FIELD: physics.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a LED display system, which includes a controller and a LED display device, which displays video, controlling blinking of separate light-emitting diodes (LED) based on video signals distributed from controller, in particular to LED brightness control method. Disclosed LED display system comprises a controller and a LED display device configured to display video based on a video signal distributed from the controller. Controller includes average brightness calculating unit configured to calculate average brightness of pixels forming a frame for each frame in video signal; correction coefficient calculating unit configured to calculate brightness correction factor for video signal brightness correction so, that power consumption of the LED display device becomes less or equal to the predetermined value, based on the average brightness value calculated by the average brightness calculation unit, and a video signal distribution unit configured to distribute the video signal and the brightness correction coefficient to the LED display device. Video signal distribution unit is configured to add a brightness correction factor to a frame header (n+1) which follows the frame n, the average brightness value of which is obtained. LED display device includes a plurality of LEDs serving as display pixels; frame memory configured to delay the video signal of the frame n, distributed from the video signal distribution unit for one frame and output thereof; brightness adjustment unit configured to adjust the brightness of the video signal of the frame n, delayed by one frame to the frame memory and output based on the brightness correction factor added to the frame (n+1) header, distributed from the video signal distribution unit, and an LED driver unit configured to drive a plurality of LEDs based on a video signal whose brightness is adjusted by the brightness adjustment unit.

EFFECT: technical result is providing a method of reducing power consumption of a plurality of LED display devices in a LED display system.
