FIELD: display system.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a LED display system, which includes a controller and a LED display device, which displays video by controlling flashing of separate light-emitting diodes (LED) based on video signals distributed from the controller, in particular, to LED brightness control method. Disclosed LED display system comprises a plurality of controllers and a LED display device configured to display video based on a video signal distributed from a plurality of controllers. Each of the controllers includes: a unit for calculating average brightness, configured to calculate the average brightness of the pixels forming the frame, for each frame in the video signal, and generating control signal indicating completion of average brightness value calculation; a signal line connected in OR circuit to other controllers; unit for transmitting an average luminance value, configured to share the average luminance value and the control signal with other controllers through a signal line and outputting the average brightness value to the signal line after detecting completion of calculating average brightness values of all controllers by means of a control signal; unit for calculating a correction factor, which is configured to calculate a brightness correction factor which is common for all controllers for correcting the brightness of the video signal such that power consumption of the LED display device becomes less or equal to a predetermined value, based on the average brightness value introduced from the transmission unit of the average brightness value through the signal line, and the video signal distribution unit, configured to distribute a video signal and a common brightness correction factor to a LED display device. Video signal distribution unit is configured to add a common brightness correction factor to a frame header (n + 1), which is next to the frame n, which average luminance value is obtained, and its distribution. LED display device includes: a plurality of LEDs serving as display pixels; frame memory configured to delay the video signal of the frame n, which is distributed from the video signal distribution unit by one frame and output thereof; a brightness adjustment unit configured to adjust the brightness of the video signal of the frame n, delayed by one frame with the frame memory, and output based on the overall brightness correction factor added to the frame header (n+1), distributed from the video distribution unit, and an LED driver unit configured to drive a plurality of LEDs based on a video signal whose brightness is adjusted by the brightness adjustment unit.
EFFECT: technical result is providing a method of reducing power consumption of a plurality of LED display devices by synchronizing energy management with each controller.
