FIELD: metallurgy.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to metallurgy, namely, to steel and alloy casting, and can be used in shops of metallurgical plants to improve quality of metal filtration by increasing total effective area of filter. Double-layer porous ceramic foam filter for partition of intermediate ladle of continuous metal casting machine comprises upper and lower layers. Filter is shaped as a trapezoid with filtration area of from 0.06 to 0.09 m2. Upper layer of the filter is made with cylindrical holes throughout the thickness of the layer, the diameter of which is from 6.5 to 8.5 mm, and the number of said holes is from 120 to 180 pieces to ensure preservation of mechanical strength of the filter. Side surfaces of cylindrical holes provide increase of total effective area of filter at least three times. Diameter of cylindrical holes in the upper layer of the filter is preferably equal to 7.6 mm, and their number is preferably equal to 164.
EFFECT: result is increased filter capacity.
