SUBSTANCE: invention represents a method for enhancing feline umami receptor activity, comprising contacting a composition comprising an amino acid and a nucleotide or nucleotide derivative, with feline umami receptor, wherein the composition interacts in a site of interaction of the feline umami receptor with one or more amino acids selected from a group consisting of Ser172, Thr149, Thr148, Glu301, Tyr220, Glu170, Asp302, His71, Arg277, His308, Ser306, Ser384, Ala380, His47, Asn69, Asp302, Met383, Ser385, Ile309, Ser107, Asp49 and combinations thereof.
EFFECT: methods for modulation of taste receptors are proposed.
