FIELD: measurement.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to determination of strength properties of metals and can be used to determine ultimate strength at cutting without destruction of parts material. Test material is loaded by means of spherical indenter with load in range corresponding to measurement of hardness, measurement of diameter of indenter, diameter of residual impression on surface of tested material, load on indenter and calculation of ultimate strength of material at cut according to dependence, taking into account εp is limiting uniform deformation at static stretching of sample from tested material, F is the load on the spherical indenter, d is the imprint diameter on the surface of the test material, D is the diameter of the spherical indenter, V and W are the shear strength limit factors, which depend on the chemical composition of the test material.
EFFECT: simple method of determining ultimate strength of material in shearing and high accuracy thereof.
