FIELD: medicine.

SUBSTANCE: invention refers to medicine and can be used to predict the risk of developing postoperative pancreatic fistula following distal pancreatic resection. That is ensured by assessing the average density of the pancreatic parenchyma in Hounsfield's units (HU) measured in the area of suspected resection on preoperative native computed tomographic images by histogram analysis. Diameter of the main pancreatic duct is evaluated on preoperative native computed tomographic images. Blood albumin is measured, evaluated one day before the operation (ABO) and the first postoperative day (APO1). If combined average pancreatic parenchyma density is less than +30 HU, diameter of the main pancreatic duct less than 3 mm and a difference ABO - APO1 of more than 14 g/l, risk of postoperative pancreatic fistula is evaluated as high.

EFFECT: invention allows predicting development of postoperative pancreatic fistula in the above patients.
