FIELD: technological processes.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to technology of processing Arctic brown algae to produce new highly effective plant-based antioxidants. Method of producing a biologically active polyphenol complex of Arctic brown algae involves treatment with chloroform of an air-dry material ground to particle size of 0.03-0.20 mm with a moisture content of 9 wt% in a Soxhlet apparatus for 8 hours. Then defatted algal residue is dried at 40°C is ground to a fraction of less than 0.01 mm and extracted with acetone at 50°C in two stages for 60 minutes with hydromodule 1:20 with constant stirring. Obtained acetone extract is concentrated on a rotary evaporator to a thick state and distilled water is added in amount of 50 ml per 100 g of algae to produce an aqueous polyphenol extract. Polyphenol extract is lyophilically dried to produce a polyphenol complex powder.

EFFECT: invention is aimed at providing the most complete and selective extraction of biologically active polyphenolic complex from brown algae biomass possessing antioxidant, bacteriostatic and fungistatic properties.
