FIELD: electrical communication engineering.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to control of downlink data packets delivery, and more specifically to downlink data delivery state (DDDS) used to implement such control. Said result is achieved by forming and using modified DDDS suitable for RLC AM and RLC UM. Modified DDDS optionally includes an IE indicating the largest sequence number of a packet successfully delivered to the wireless terminal. Unit B, which supports wireless communication with wireless terminal, sends modified DDDS to node A, wherein node A sends DL data packets to node B for transmission to wireless terminal in response to received modified DDDS.

EFFECT: technical result is reduced transmission of non-mandatory information, efficient use of DDDS.
