FIELD: medicine.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to orthopedic dentistry and orthodontics, and can be used to determine the rotation of the upper jaw in the vertical plane relative to the base of the skull on computed tomograms. On previously performed volumetric computed tomograms of the skull in the frontal projection, cephalometric landmarks are applied relative to the base of the skull. In this case, at first, the location of the lowest points on the mastoid processes is determined and they are designated by points Md on the right and Ms on the left. Through the points obtained, line A of the base of the skull is drawn. The middle of the MdMs segment is designated by point O, through which the perpendicular S is drawn to the MdMs segment, which determines the position of the mid-sagittal plane of the skull. Next, the lower border of the zygomatic-maxillary suture is marked with points Zmd on the right and Zms on the left. Line B is drawn through the points obtained, which determines the position of the projection of the plane of the upper jaw. From points Md and Ms, perpendiculars are drawn to line B and the intersection points are designated by points C on the right and D on the left. Then, the length of the CMd and DMs segments and the inner angles β and β1 are measured, formed at the intersection of the perpendicular S and the line B. The rotation of the upper jaw is determined by the readings of the inner angle having the smallest value and located on the side of the CMd or DMs segment.
EFFECT: method improves accuracy of determining the position of the upper jaw relative to the base of the skull due to the declared cephalometric landmarks.
