FIELD: biotechnology.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the field of biotechnology. Invention is a method of controlling insect pests from superfamily Coccoidea involves using an insecticide based on deoxyribonucleic acid, as a result of which contact treatment is carried out by an animal insect sprayer with an aqueous solution of a short antisense DNA fragment of 28S gene of the ribosomal RNA of the target pest insect so that the host plant surface gets at least 0.5 mg of DNA per 1 square meter of foliage.
EFFECT: results of the conducted experiments demonstrate the promising application of antisense fragments of 28S gene of the ribosomal RNA of insect pests of the superfamily Coccoidea in plant protection practice; and compared with the prototype, the disclosed method is more effective for target insect pests and more versatile.
