FIELD: agriculture.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to agriculture, namely to the field of plant protection in terms of combating the sucking insect cactus scale (Diaspis echinocacti Bouche) from the family of scutelids (Diaspididae) of the order Equidoptera (Homoptera), which is one of the most significant plant pests worldwide. The method for combating cactus scale larvae includes the use of an insecticide based on short antisense DNA fragments of the 28S ribosomal RNA 5'-ATCGCTGCGGA-3' genes of the target insect pest. Contact treatment of insect specimens with an aqueous solution is carried out with a spray gun in such a way that at least 0.5 mg of DNA per 1 square meter of foliage gets on the surface of the host plant, with the norm of using DNA insecticide (Cactus-NBG) 1.0 g/10.0 l.
EFFECT: invention increases the versatility of the proposed approach, and also increases the mortality of insects.
