FIELD: biotechnology.
SUBSTANCE: interfering RNA molecules that can interfere with target pest genes and are toxic to the target pest are described. Methods for making and using interfering RNAs, for example in transgenic plants or as an active ingredient in a composition, to provide protection against insect damage, are also disclosed.
EFFECT: group of inventions is used to effectively protect plants from damage by beetles.
