SUBSTANCE: invention relates to medicine, namely vascular surgery, and can be used for studying popliteal vessels in variant anatomy in patients. For this, ultrasonic duplex angioscanning is performed. The study is carried out with the patient lying on his stomach. To do this, the examined and contralateral lower limbs are placed on a toe in a position with an emphasis on the contralateral extremity. A linear transducer is conducted in the areas from the exit of the popliteal vessels from the adductor canal to the upper edge of the patella and the knee joint cleft along the vertical line drawn through the middle of the popliteal fossa, in the area to the level of the popliteal artery bifurcation or the fusion of the anterior and posterior tibial veins, is carried out along the projection line, between two points: 1st point - the middle of the popliteal fossa, 2nd point - 1.5 cm inwards from the head of the fibula bone. Furthermore, in the supine position of the patient, the convex transducer is placed at a point located 1.5 cm outward from the head of the fibula bone.

EFFECT: invention enables defining the blood flow condition and particularities of popliteal vessels topography in variant anatomy.
