FIELD: hydraulic systems.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to hydraulic systems and namely to safety devices for pipelines. The invention is designed to boost the efficiency of damping short impulses of water hammer and pressure pulsations to ensure reliable operation of the pipeline and protect hydraulic equipment under various pressure disturbances in hydraulic systems. This is achieved due to the shape of a stilling basin and the location of an inlet pipe. The walls of the stilling basin have tapered holes that grow narrower. The formation of the reflected shock wave is prevented by the presence of the tapered holes in the stilling basin.
EFFECT: invention reduces shock pressure in the pipeline. This is achieved due to a spherical shape of the wavefront surface and reduction of the shock energy density of the shock wave along the path of its progress.
