SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the fat and oil industry. A method of isolating a lipid containing polyunsaturated fatty acids (PUFA) from biomass, comprising the following steps: a) providing a suspension of biomass containing cells that contain a lipid containing PUFA; b) optionally lysing the cells of the biomass; c) concentrating the slurry to a total dry matter content (TDM) of 20 to 60 wt% if the slurry has a lower TDM content; d) regulation of the temperature in the suspension from 20 to 100°C; e) maintaining the temperature in the range specified in (d) for a period of 1 to 36 hours while adding a total of 7.5 to 25 mol of base equivalent to 10 kg of total dry matter contained in the suspension; f) optionally neutralizing the demulsified composition obtained according to step (e), if it has a pH value outside the range of 5.5 to 8.5; g) separation of lipids in the form of an oily light phase.

EFFECT: invention provides effective method for the isolation of lipids, in particular lipids containing PUFAs, from lipid-containing cells, without organic solvents, but also in the absence of large amounts of salts for effective isolation of oil from cells.
