FIELD: biochemistry.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the field of biochemistry, in particular to a nucleic acid molecule containing a nucleotide sequence that encodes the Cry protein, which is toxic to the European corn worm (Ostrinia nubilalis), the corn earworm (Helicoverpa zea) or the dark sword-grass (Agrotis ipsilon). Also disclosed are a chimeric gene, a vector, a plant, a plant cell and a seed containing the molecule, a polypeptide encoded by the said molecule. Methods for producing the protein and plants, a method for combating lepidopterous and coleopterous insect pests are disclosed.
EFFECT: invention makes it possible to effectively combat lepidopterous and coleopterous insect pests.
