FIELD: polymeric material production.
SUBSTANCE: present invention relates to a method for producing aqueous suspensions, aqueous suspensions, a reshaped polyisobutylene particle, polyisobutylene particle versions, a polyisobutylene composition, a molded article and the use of a polyisobutylene particle, reshaped polyisobutylene particles or polyisobutylene compositions or a molded article. The method to produce an aqueous suspension containing a quantity of polyisobutylene particles that are suspended therein includes the following steps: (A) bringing into contact an organic medium containing (i) polyisobutylene and (ii) an organic diluent with an aqueous medium containing at least one compound with a lower critical solution temperature (LCST) having a cloud point from 0 to 100C, and removing, at least partially, the organic diluent to produce an aqueous suspension containing the above mentioned polyisobutylene particles. The LCST compound is an alkyl cellulose or hydroxyalkylalkyl cellulose. Polyisobutylene composition for seals, coatings, adhesives and roofing materials contains: I) 96.0 wt. % or more polyisobutylene; II) from 0 to 3.0 wt. % bivalent alkaline earth metal ion stearate; and III) from 1 ppm to 5000 ppm of at least one LCST compound. The polyisobutylene composition also has an ash content measured according to ASTM D5667 of 0.2 wt. % or less. Polyisobutylene composition for seals, coatings, adhesives and roofing materials contains: I) 100 parts by weight of polyisobutylene, II) from 0.0001 to 0.5 pbw. per 100 ppm of rubber of at least one LCST compound , and III) not containing or containing from 0.0001 to 3.0 pbw. per 100 ppm of rubber stearate divalent ion of alkaline earth metal, and IV) not containing or containing from 0.005 to 0.1 pph.per100 ppm of rubber antioxidants, and V) from 0.005 to 0.5 pph. per 100 ppm of rubber volatile compounds having a boiling point at standard pressure of 20 ° C or less. A molded article in the form of a pellet or briquette is produced by molding polyisobutylene particles or reshaped polyisobutylene particles.
EFFECT: technical result is a method for producing polyisobutylene in an aqueous medium having a reduced or low tendency to agglomerate.
