FIELD: machine building.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to machine building and may be used for milling rails head profile. Prefabricated milling cutter comprises housing with mounting surfaces for installation on machine spindle and cutting plates. Housing is made in the form of a pentagonal prism with projections for torque transfer. Milling cutter is equipped with support plates and five segments fixed by means of screws with cone heads on corresponding protrusion on face of cutter housing with possibility of each segment pressing to protrusion of housing in direction opposite to cutting force. Three rows of tangential cutting plates and support plates located under them are fixed in seats of each segment. Cutting plates are provided with cutting edge, the shape of which repeats shape of preset section of rail head profile. Cutting plates are arranged so that projections of cutting edges of cutting plates installed in rows on plane passing through cutter axis overlap each other, and cutting plates installed on one segment ensure processing of full profile of rail head. Heads of screws are conical and located eccentrically in holes of segments.
EFFECT: higher accuracy of processing profile of rail head in one pass.
