SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the field of radio engineering and is intended for use in short-wave radio communication channels during their adaptation to communication conditions. According to the method of increasing the throughput and assessing the quality of short-wave frequency shift keyed communication channels while adapting to the communication conditions, the communication conditions are constantly changing and are rated as "bad", "average" and "good". In poor to average communication conditions, the preferred method of keying is to use simultaneously both frequency and phase shift keying of both even and odd message elements. In good communication conditions, odd elements of a discrete message are transmitted using frequency shift keying, and even elements of the same discrete message are transmitted using relative phase shift keying.
EFFECT: invention is aimed at increasing throughput of the communication channel with variable parameters.
