FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to two variants of reducing environmental pollution in liquid bunker fuel oil. One of the variants includes: mixing a certain amount of raw liquid bunker fuel oil material with a certain amount of hydrogen gas as an activating gas resulting in a blend of raw material; contacting of the blend of raw material with catalysts for which at least a hydrodemetallization catalyst and a hydrodesulphurization catalyst are used resulting in a process blend from the blend of raw material; synthesis of said process blend and separation of liquid components of the liquid bunker fuel oil product of the process blend from gaseous components of the process blend and unloading of the liquid bunker fuel oil product, wherein environmental pollutants are removed selectively from the raw liquid bunker fuel oil material providing contact of the raw material blend first with the demetallization catalyst layer, then with the desulphurization catalyst layer, wherein during the implementation of the method the layer with high demetallization activity acts as a protective layer for the desulphurization layer. The invention also relates to an apparatus.
EFFECT: proposed invention allows to minimize alteration of desirable properties of liquid bunker fuel oil and minimizes unwanted synthesis of byproducts.
