SUBSTANCE: invention relates to ecology and can be used to reduce emissions in ports. Disclosed is a method for reducing emissions of exhaust gases into the atmosphere at ports or near them, involving: (a) technical analysis of the amount of sulphur or metal emissions per kWh as a result of generation of electricity onshore, supplied to the power grid in the port or near it, (b) technical analysis of the amount of sulphur or metal emissions per kWh as a result of power generation on board the vessel by the vessel itself, when it is in the port at (a), then (a) and (b) are compared, if (b) is less than (a), all or part of on-board power generation is transmitted to the electric grid.
EFFECT: invention ensures reduction of harmful emissions into atmosphere.
