FIELD: mechanical engineering.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to mechanical engineering and can be used when drilling deep holes of large diameter. The vibration damping extension contains a steel body and a damping system consisting of an inner insert with a central hole and steel rings. The inner insert, absorbing vibrations during drilling, is made with a central hole of length 1 and diameter d of metal with a specific gravity greater than that of steel. A damping sleeve is located between the steel body of the extension and the inner insert with a central hole, which is fixed to the insert with a screw in the middle of its length. At the ends of the specified inner insert are two damping caps with a diameter d1. The damping sleeve and damping caps are made of a damping material selected from iron-based alloys with the addition of aluminum or manganese with a specific damping capacity Ψ from 0.2 to 0.4.
EFFECT: reduced vibration during processing.
