SUBSTANCE: present invention relates to aerosol generating systems and heater assemblies for aerosol generating systems, the heater assemblies comprising an electrical heater that is suitable for vaporizing an aerosol forming substrate. The heater assembly comprises an electric heater (30) having at least one heating element (36) for heating the liquid substrate forming an aerosol to form an aerosol, and a capillary body (22) for supplying the liquid substrate forming an aerosol from the storage portion fluid of the aerosol generating system to said at least one heating element. At least one heating element is made of an electrically conductive material applied directly to the porous outer surface (32) of the capillary body. Also provided is a cartridge (20) for use in an aerosol generating system and a method for making such a cartridge.
