FIELD: smoking accessories.

SUBSTANCE: group of inventions relates to an aerosol generation system and a cartridge for an aerosol generation system. Aerosol-generating system comprises: a liquid storage portion for retaining a liquid aerosol-forming substrate; sprayer in fluid communication with the liquid storage portion; conductivity sensor; power supply unit; and control electronics. Conductivity sensor comprises at least two electrodes and is arranged to measure the conductivity of the aerosol-forming liquid substrate from the liquid storage part. Control electronics is configured to: control the supply of power from the power supply to the sprayer for spraying the aerosol-forming liquid substrate from the liquid storage portion; and controlling the power supply from the power supply to the conductivity sensor electrodes, wherein the power supply to the conductivity sensor is made in the form of alternating voltage. Control electronics is further configured to: receive one or more measurements indicative of the conductivity of the aerosol-forming liquid substrate from the conductivity sensor; and determining the nicotine concentration in the aerosol-forming liquid substrate based on one or more measurements from the conductivity sensor.

EFFECT: enabling assessment of the nicotine concentration in the liquid formulation and controlling the nicotine concentration in aerosols generated from different liquid formulations.
