A METHOD FOR PREDICTING THE RISK OF A DECREASE IN BONE STRENGTH IN NEWBORNS FROM MOTHERS WITH EXCESSIVE GESTATIONAL WEIGHT GAIN WHO ENTERED PREGNANCY WITH A NORMAL BODY WEIGHT Russian patent published in 2021 - IPC A61B5/00

Abstract RU 2747163 C1

FIELD: medicine.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to pediatrics and neonatology, and can be used to predict the risk of a decrease in bone strength in newborns from mothers with excessive gestational weight gain who entered pregnancy with a normal body mass index. To do this, newborn babies born to mothers with excessive gestational weight gain undergo ultrasound densitometry. If the body length is less than 2.56 standard deviations (SD), then a low risk of decreased bone strength in newborns is predicted. If the length index is more than 2.56 SD, then a high risk of a decrease in bone strength in a newborn is predicted.

EFFECT: method provides further prevention of the problem of bone mass accumulation in a child and development of osteoporosis in the future, due to timely ultrasound densitometry with identification of specific predictors, which will allow determining the tactics of adequate therapy.
