FIELD: medicine.
SUBSTANCE: invention refers to medicine, namely to neonatology, and can be used for oropharyngeal buccal administration of colostrum to premature infants with extremely low body weight. For this purpose, the first feeding is expressed directly in the delivery unit with colostrum 30–40 minutes after birth. Colostrum is introduced into the oral cavity of the child along the mucosa of the right and left cheeks towards the oropharynx using a disposable sterile Pasteur pipette in volume of 0.35 ml on each side for 2 minutes. Second feeding with native colostrum is performed during the first six hours of life at the child's location.
EFFECT: method provides reducing infectious-inflammatory diseases in the early period of adaptation of newborns by creating conditions which prevent colonisation of the intestine with an opportunistic microflora when the post-conceptual age reaches 38–40 weeks, provides for creation of conditions for more prolonged breastfeeding, promotes greater weight gain and body weight at discharging.
