FIELD: manufacture of fibers.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a method of manufacturing mineral fibers by internal centrifugation, to a special apparatus suitable for implementation of said method, and to mineral fibers that can be manufactured using this method. A method for producing mineral fibers by internal centrifugation using an apparatus which is comprised of a basket and a spinning disk, wherein said basket and disk are capable of rotating as a unit around a rotation axis, and the basket has an annular wall wherein multiple holes are made, and the spinning disk has an annular wall wherein multiple holes are made , wherein said method includes: supplying material into the basket to be converted into fibers at the temperature Ta; centrifugation of the material to be converted into fibers by rotating the basket and the spinning disk as a unit, wherein the method is characterized by coefficient F determined by formula (1) wherein μa stands for the viscosity of the material to be converted into fibers at the temperature Ta, d is the distance between the annular wall of the basket and the annular wall of the spinning disk, N is the number of holes in the basket and Q is the supplying speed of the material to be converted into fibers, being greater than 2000. Also proposed are the apparatus, mineral fibers and thermal insulation and/or soundproofing product containing the mineral fibers.

EFFECT: increased number of bubbles in the fibers, changed properties and density of the fibers.
