FIELD: wood processing.
SUBSTANCE: group of inventions relates to the processing of wood fibers in a refiner. The method of processing wood fibers includes a refiner containing a first refining element containing the first refiner knives, and a second refining element containing the second refiner knives. The first refining element is spaced from the second refining element. The first and second refiner knives are separated by the first and second refiner grooves. Each of the first and second grooves of the refiner has a bottom surface. The first refining element or the second refining element is rotated so that the first and second refining elements move relative to each other. The pulp from the wood pulp containing wood fibers is fed to the refiner so that the pulp passes through the refining space. One refining element rotates with a power level sufficient to create a refining intensity in the refining space of at least 3 N. The bulk of the refiner grooves of the first and second refining elements has a width that is the distance between adjacent refiner knives and falls in the range from 6 to 12 mm. EFFECT: reduced fiber length in softwood pulp, while maintaining a higher value of friability.
