SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a refining element for a fibre refiner. Refining element comprises refining body with refining surface including first and second refining plates separated by first and second refining grooves. First and second refining plates extend from respective first and second radially inner positions to corresponding first and second radially outer positions. First and second refining plates have the corresponding first and second height extending upwards from the bottom of the corresponding adjacent first or second refining groove. Second height is the minimum height of the second refining plates and is located at a distance from the second radially internal position, wherein the second height is at least 0.35 mm less than the first height. First refining plates are made with possibility of wood fibres refining, and the second refining plates are made with possibility of fibre bundles refining.
EFFECT: invention makes it possible to carry out the process of refining and fibre separation within the limits of a single refiner.
