SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a refining element and a wood pulp refiner. The refining element includes a refining body with a refining surface including refining plates separated by refining grooves and teeth. Each of the refining plates extends from a radially inner position on the refining surface to a first radially outer position on the refining surface, and the teeth extend to a second radially outer position on the refining surface. The second radially outer position is closer to the part of the refining body farthermost from the centre than the first radially outer position. The refining plates are configured to refine wood fibres, and the teeth are configured to grind fibre bundles.
EFFECT: improved technology of wood fibre refining.
