FIELD: textile, paper.
SUBSTANCE: invention is designed for using in the wood-pulp and paper industry. It suggests a method of thermomechanical refinement of wood chips and a unit for this operation. The wood chips are prepared for refinement by holding them in steam to get them soft which is followed by crushing and dehydration of the softened wood chips with compression to reach concentration of the hard matter more than 55% and dilution of the crushed wood chips to reach concentration within the range of about 30-55%. Crushing is accompanied by a partial separation of the material fibres. The diluted material is suplied to the primary refiner with rotating disks whose each of the opposite disks has a pattern of knives and grooves of the internal ring and a pattern of knives and grooves of the peripheral ring. The wood chips crushed and partially separated in fibres are completely separated in fibres in the internal ring and the fibres received are fibrillated in the peripheral ring. Crushing along with compressing, dehydration and dilution are performed at one intergrated unit located immediately above in the course of the production line from the primary refiner and the further fibre separation and fibrillation are performed only between one set of disks in the primary refiner rotating relative to each other.
EFFECT: simplified manufacture of high quality thermomechanical wood pulp and reduced energy consumption.
