FIELD: laser technology.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the field of laser technology; it is designed to provide stable generation of ultrashort laser pulses in the femto-picosecond range. The method and device are implemented in a unidirectional polarizing resonator, at a given level of optical gain in the active fiber section of an amplifier with an optical diode pump of about 2 W. The resonator contains a nonlinear optical element (hereinafter – NOE). NOE has two circuits with passive thermal compensation due to the special joint laying of asymmetric segments of birefringent fiber. Both circuits are thermostatically controlled. The selection and fixation (storage in the controller) of the temperatures of these two circuits, at a given level of optical gain in the optical amplifier, further provides an optimal ratio of the linear and nonlinear parts of the phase difference of the polarization components of the optical wave at the output of the NOE.
EFFECT: increased autogeneration mode of ultrashort pulses with self-excitation at start each time the laser is turned on.
