FIELD: biochemistry.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to derivatives of (2-oxo-4-phenylpyrrolidin-1-yl) acetic acid of general formula (1), in which "n" can be equal to 0, R1 and R5 can simultaneously be alkyl groups, with one or more of groups R2, R3, R4 being hydrogen atoms, alkyl, alkoxy and trifluoromethyl groups; or «n» can be equal to 0, R1 can be a methyl or alkoxy group, while R2, R3, R4 and R5 are hydrogen atoms; or «n» can be equal to 0, with one or more of groups R1, R2, R3, R4, R5 being a trifluoromethyl one, and the rest are hydrogen; or «n» can be equal to 1, while R1, R2, R3, R4, R5 can be hydrogen. The invention also relates to a method for the preparation of (2-oxo-4-phenylpyrrolidin-1-yl) acetic acid derivatives of the general formula (1) and to their use.

EFFECT: new compounds of general formula (1) have been obtained, which can be used as anticonvulsants for prevention and treatment of paroxysmal conditions, including epilepsy.
