SUBSTANCE: invention relates to an aerosol-generating apparatus. The apparatus is comprised of a heater and an aerosol-forming material, wherein the heater is configured to heat the aerosol-forming material during use and the aerosol-forming material constitutes a tobacco rod containing at least two sections with different tobacco compositions. The composition of the first section of the aerosol-forming material is therein depleted by one or more volatile components relative to the composition of the second section.
EFFECT: ensured regulation of a flavor profile of inhaled aerosol.
