FIELD: smoking accessories.

SUBSTANCE: group of inventions relates to the tobacco industry, in particular to devices simulating the tobacco smoking process. Aerosol-generating device is configured to contain an aerosol-generating article. Aerosol-generating device has a distal end and a mouthpiece end and comprises a casing and a heater for heating the aerosol-generating article. Casing comprises peripheral wall. Peripheral wall defines a cavity of the device for containing the aerosol-generating article at the mouth end of the device. Casing also has a ventilation chamber. Ventilation chamber is defined inside peripheral wall. Ventilation chamber is configured to be in fluid communication with the outer part of the aerosol-generating device and the aerosol-generating article contained within the cavity of the device. Ventilation chamber is configured to be in fluid communication with the outer part of the aerosol-generating device through the inlet opening of the chamber defined in the casing. Chamber inlet has cross-section area smaller than that of ventilation chamber. Chamber inlet extends between the ventilation chamber and the mouth end of the aerosol-generating device. Length of the ventilation chamber is less than or equal to 8 mm. Disclosed is an aerosol-generating system comprising an article and an aerosol-generating device.

EFFECT: high efficiency of cooling the generated aerosol and preventing the possibility of blocking the ventilation zone by the user.
