FIELD: long-length products.
SUBSTANCE: invention is used for non-destructive control of long-length products. The essence of the invention lies in the fact that the product is scanned under identical conditions with certain time intervals between scans. Sequential control signals are recorded with reference to the coordinates of the product and, based on the results of the analysis, a decision is made on the presence of a defect, the most informative parameter of signals from a defect is selected. According to the values obtained during successive control procedures, a regression line is formed, and the orientation of the defect is estimated according to the values of the regression line parameters.
EFFECT: invention is aimed at increasing reliability and information content of non-destructive testing by determining the orientation of defects and identifying the most dangerous transverse cracks for long-length products.
