METHOD FOR SURGICAL CORRECTION OF CONGENITAL ASYMMETRIC KEELED CHEST DEFORMATION IN CHILDREN Russian patent published in 2021 - IPC A61B17/80

Abstract RU 2748958 C1

FIELD: medicine.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to medicine, namely to pediatric surgery, and can be used for surgical correction of congenital asymmetric keeled chest deformation in children. Two incisions of the skin, subcutaneous fat and muscles are performed on both sides along the lateral surfaces of the chest at the level of the greatest deformation. Further, from the cuts on both sides, tunnels are formed between the muscles and ribs in the direction of the sternum. On the side of the deformation, the tunnel ends at the edge of the sternum and on the opposite side at a distance of 2-5 cm from it. Then, in the symmetrical intercostal spaces in the region of the medial ends of the formed tunnels, one hole is made, which penetrates into the chest cavity. Then, from the side of the deformation, a conductor is passed through the formed tunnel and an opening in the intercostal space at the edge of the sternum into the chest cavity. Next, the conductor is removed from the chest cavity through a hole in the intercostal space on the side opposite to the deformation, and is carried out through the tunnel on the side opposite to the deformation. A line is drawn along the conductor, with the help of which a corrective plate, modeled according to the shape of the chest, is installed in the course of the conductor with the curved side forward. Then the plate is turned with the curved side posteriorly, creating a compressive corrective effect on the deformation. Then the ends of the plate are fixed to the adjacent ribs.

EFFECT: method ensures reduction of trauma, achievement of reliable intraoperative correction of deformity, stable fixation, cosmetic effect, and also minimizes the risk of damage to the organs of the thoracic cavity by controlling the passage of the corrective plate by forming a tunnel in the tissues of the chest with entry into the chest cavity.
