METHOD OF SURGICAL TREATMENT OF FUNNEL CHEST DEFORMATION Russian patent published in 2010 - IPC A61B17/00 

FIELD: medicine.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to field of medicine, namely to thoracic surgery, can be applied in surgical treatment of funnel chest deformation. Essence of method lies in performing two 3-4 cm long cuts of skin and subcutaneous fat on lateral surfaces of thorax, formation of retrosternal tunnel, passing through it C-shaped titanium plate with concave end behind sternum, leaving convex part behind sternum, turning plate giving sternum and ribs physiologically correct position, fixation of plate to ribs. Correcting plates are passed through muscle layer on lateral surfaces of thorax in 3-d and 4-th intercostal spaces. Tunnelator is placed in area of minimal deformation and deformation is corrected on passed tunnelator. After that second tunnelator is passed in area of maximal deformation, drainage tube-guide, which is used to pass correcting plates, is fixed to tunnelators. First correcting plate is installed in 3-d intercostal space, the second - in 4-th intercostal space.

EFFECT: reduction of intervention traumatism and operation duration, reduction of risk of damaging vitally important organs of thorax, as well as simplification of operation realisation.
