SUBSTANCE: invention relates to biotechnology. It is used in obtaining a recombinant immunologically active protein of growth and differentiation factor 11 (GDF11), which can be used to increase the meat productivity of farm animals and increase their muscle mass by inducing the synthesis of specific autoantibodies to GDF11 blocking its action and, as a result, stimulating growth muscle tissue. A recombinant protein is obtained. The recombinant protein includes GDF11 and a glucan-binding domain. A method for obtaining the target protein on glucan has been developed, which includes binding the protein to a glucan-containing sorbent with the help of affinity interaction, subsequent washing from unbound bacterial proteins and isolation of the target product. Also, an injectable drug based on the specified protein has been obtained, and a method for increasing the muscle mass of farm animals has been proposed including performing subcutaneous or intramuscular injections of the drug.

EFFECT: recombinant GDF11 protein that is easily purified and has sufficient immunogenicity against GDF11.
