SUBSTANCE: invention relates to medicine, in particular to toxicology, and is intended to determine the etiology of acute toxic hepatitis. RNA of the NFE2L2 gene is extracted from peripheral venous blood lymphocytes, and the amount of RNA is normalized to endogenous GAPDH control. Quantitative analysis of the RNA of the NFE2L2 gene and statistical analysis of the expression of the NFE2L2 gene are performed. When the multiplicity of the expression of the NFE2L2 gene relative to the expression of GAPDH is from -10 to 0, acute toxic hepatitis caused by ethanol poisoning is diagnosed. With the multiplicity of expression is from 0.1 to 10, acute toxic hepatitis caused by poisoning with chemicals or drugs is diagnosed.
EFFECT: invention provides an increase in the accuracy of diagnosis by obtaining etiological criteria for acute toxic hepatitis in the early stages of the development of the disease.
