SUBSTANCE: invention relates to medicine, namely to toxicology, and can be used to determine the rate of accumulation of cadmium in the kidneys of rats. RNA is isolated from the peripheral venous blood lymphocytes. The amount of mRNA of the MT2A gene is determined. The amount of mRNA is normalized to endogenous control of GAPDH. When the multiplicity of the expression of the MT2A gene relative to the expression of GAPDH is from -10 to -0.1, a low rate of accumulation of cadmium in the kidneys of rats is determined, which is 0.2±0.02 mg/kg/month, from 0.1 to 5 - average accumulation rate of 0.4±0.03 mg/kg/month, from 5.1 to 10 - a high rate of accumulation of cadmium in the kidneys, which is 0.8±0.06 mg/kg/month.

EFFECT: method improves the accuracy of determination of cadmium in the kidneys by estimating the rate of accumulation of cadmium in the blood.
