FIELD: biotechnology.

SUBSTANCE: group of inventions relates to a biotechnological method for producing esters of ω-functionalised carboxylic acids. Proposed are a cell of a microorganism and a method for producing at least one ester of ω-functionalised carboxylic acid from undecane and/or dodecane. The cell is genetically modified for increasing the expression relative to the wild-type cell of at least one AlkB alkane hydroxylase and wax ester synthase, wherein the AlkB alkane hydroxylase is characterised by a SEQ ID NO:1 sequence and the wax ester synthase is characterised by a SEQ ID NO:2 sequence. The cell therein does not comprise a genetic modification increasing the expression relative to the wild-type cell of the following enzymes forming a carboxylic acid or a carboxylate ester from a simple carbon source: acyl-ACP thioesterase under EC 3.1.2.14 or EC 3.1.2.22, acyl-CoA-thioesterase under EC 3.1.2.2, EC 3.1.2.18, EC 3.1.2.19, EC 3.1.2.20 or EC 3.1.2.22, acyl-CoA:ACP-transacylase, polyketide synthase and hexanoic acid synthase.

EFFECT: inventions allow producing an ester of ω-functionalised carboxylic acid from undecane and/or dodecane using a single recombinant cell.
