FIELD: powder metallurgy.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to powder metallurgy, in particular to a method for plasma production of metal powders. The consumable material in the form of a metal wire is fed through the channel of the spray gun of the plasma-forming gas flow into the plasma spraying zone. An electric arc is excited between the cathode arc excitation electrode, which is a spray of the plasma-forming gas flow, and the anode electrode, and the consumable material is heated to a predetermined temperature. The main electrical circuit is formed, including a consumable material, an anode electrode, a power source and a plasma-forming gas, while the plasma-forming gas flow nebulizer becomes electrically neutral. Its electric potential, corresponding to the potential of the plasma region in contact with it, is supplied to the control unit of the consumable material supply device. By measuring the potential difference between the consumable material and the plasma-forming gas flow nebulizer, the feed rate of the consumable material into the plasma spraying zone is controlled to stabilize the arc current value and the position of the working zone of the consumable relative to the plasma-forming gas flow nebulizer. The feed rate of the consumable material is increased when the working zone of the consumable material approaches the nebulizer of the plasma-forming gas flow and its potential increases.

EFFECT: quality of the resulting powder is improved.
