SUBSTANCE: invention relates to medicine, namely to ophthalmology. The content of leukocytes in the clinical analysis of blood is determined, as well as the thickness of the optic nerve head (optic disc) in the central part thereof, the thickness of the peripapillary retina in the nasal sector, the thickness of the macular retina using optical coherence tomography, the visual acuity, the inflammation activity according to the fluorescein angiography (FA) data obtained at 5-10 minutes, and the value of the laser photometry indicator is estimated in points. The obtained indicator values are standardised in accordance with the mean values and root-mean-square deviations using a mathematical formula. The values of the discriminant function F1 and/or the discriminant function F2 are then determined using the obtained indicators according to the original formulas. At the values of F1<0 and/or F₂<0, retinal vein occlusion is diagnosed, and at the values of F1>0 and/or F₂>0, neuroretinal vasculitis is diagnosed.

EFFECT: method raises accuracy of diagnostics and reduces the diagnostics time, provides a possibility of early diagnostics, contributing to correct and timely prescription of therapy.
