FIELD: optical instrumentation.
SUBSTANCE: present technology relates to LiDAR systems for optical detection and range finding, and more specifically to LiDAR systems for detecting objects in the area of interest. The disclosed systems and methods relate to a LiDAR system containing a radiation source for emitting an output beam, a microelectromechanical (hereinafter – MEM) component for receiving the output beam and reflecting the output beam towards the area of interest, and the MEM component oscillates with the first oscillation amplitude to distribute the output beam through a vertical interval along the vertical axis in the area of interest, a detector for detecting an input beam from the area of interest, a processor made with the possibility to determine from the input beam received by the detector, whether there is an object in the area of interest, and in response to the determination that there is an object in the area of interest, cause the first oscillation amplitude of the MEM component to be modulated to the first modulated oscillation amplitude to reduce the vertical interval of the output beam around the object.
EFFECT: increased scanning area and increased angle of distribution of the light beam transmitted to the area of interest on one or both of the horizontal or vertical axes.
