FIELD: detection systems.
SUBSTANCE: present technology relates to light-using detection and ranging systems (LiDAR) and methods for the detection of objects in general; and, in particular, to lidar systems based on light sources with frequency modulated continuous wave (hereinafter – FMCW). The lidar system includes: a light source with frequency modulated continuous wave (FMCW), made with the possibility of generation of FMCW signal; and an amplitude modulator made with the possibility of modulation of an amplitude of at least part of FMCW signal, thereby generating a signal of amplitude-frequency modulated continuous wave (hereinafter – AFMCW); a beam divider made with the possibility of division of one of FMCW signal and AFMCW signal into the first part and the second part, the first part is an output signal for reflection from the object, thereby generating a reflected signal, and the second part is a reference signal for amplification of the reflected signal; and a detector made with the possibility of amplification of the reflected signal based on the reference signal depending on a distance from the lidar system to the object, thereby generating an amplified reflected signal for the determination of a distance to the object.
EFFECT: invention improves the accuracy and distance of ranging of FMCW lidar systems, which additionally ensures safer operation of a vehicle.
