SUBSTANCE: present invention relates to a method for controlling a continuous elongated element during the assembly of a vehicle wheel tire. The method for controlling the continuous elongated element during the assembly of the vehicle wheel tire includes: rotating forming reel (19) around its axis of rotation (X); feeding continuous elongated element (24) from feeding head (21) for creating a component of the manufactured tire held by forming reel (19) by winding continuous elongated element (24) in accordance with turns located next to each other and/or superimposed on each other in the radial direction; projecting first beam (41՛) and second beam (41՛՛) of light radiation on part (25) of continuous elongated element (24) fed by feeding head (21) and located between feeding head (21) and zone of first contact of continuous elongated element (24) with radially external surface of the manufactured tire, wherein projecting first beam (41՛) and second beam (41՛՛) is performed, accordingly, in the direction of first side lateral edge and in the direction of second side lateral edge of continuous elongated element (24); detecting the radiation reflected by specified part (25) for determining first parameter (d1(t)) connected to the width of continuous elongated element (24); comparing first parameter (d1(t)) with second control parameter (d2).

EFFECT: increased control quality of tire manufacturing due to the precise control of geometry of continuous elongated elements before their overlay on the manufactured tire.
