SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the oil refining industry, in particular to a method for producing petroleum acicular coke by a delayed coking process for the production of high-quality graphitized large-size electrodes used in ultra-high power arc furnaces. The method includes mixing in an intermediate tank as a feedstock heavy gas oil of catalytic cracking with a recycle - heavy gas oil of coking, with the formation of secondary raw materials, heating the secondary raw materials, feeding it into the coking chamber at the coking temperature and coking to obtain coke and coking distillates, which are fed to the lower part of the distillation column for fractionation, with the receipt of gas, gasoline fractions, fractions of light and heavy coking gas oils. Polystyrene is added to the decanted heavy gas oil of catalytic cracking in an amount of up to 15.0 wt.% for raw materials and recirculated with a recirculation coefficient of 1.4. Next, heating is carried out to a coking temperature from 495 to 505°C at a pressure from 0.33 to 0.37 MPa with the formation of crude needle coke and distillates, the resulting crude needle coke, after unloading, is sent for calcination in an inert environment at a temperature of 1200 to 1300°C for 1 to 2 hours to obtain a calcined needle coke.

EFFECT: obtaining petroleum needle coke with improved structural organization and increasing the yield of distillate fractions.
