FIELD: petrochemical industry.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the petrochemical industry, in particular to a method for producing needle coke by the delayed coking process, for the production of electrodes used in steel furnaces. The method includes heating a highly flavored raw material, feeding it into a coking chamber at a coking temperature from 495 to 505ºC and coking to obtain coke and coking distillates, which are fed to the lower part of the distillation column for fractionation, to obtain gas, a gasoline fraction, fractions of light and heavy coking gas oils, the resulting raw needle coke after unloading is sent for calcination in an inert atmosphere for 1 to 2 hours, to obtain calcined needle coke. Wherein as a raw material, a heavy resin for the pyrolysis of gasoline raw materials is used, which is preliminarily deasphalted with a precipitator, which is used as saturated hydrocarbons until the content of asphaltenes in it is not more than 3 wt.%. In this case, the precipitant is regenerated from the deasphalted oil by fractionation and sent for reuse, and the fraction purified from the precipitant - deasphalted heavy pyrolysis tar - is mixed with polystyrene in an amount of up to 20 wt.%. Further, coking is carried out at a pressure of 0.45 to 0.50 MPa, and calcination is carried out at a temperature of 1400 to 1450ºC.

EFFECT: obtaining needle coke from petrochemical technogenic raw materials with improved organization of the microstructure.
