METHOD FOR CATHERIZATION OF INTERNAL JUGULAR VEIN WHEN PATIENT IS IN PRONE POSITION Russian patent published in 2021 - IPC A61M19/00 A61B8/00

Abstract RU 2753579 C1

FIELD: medicine.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to medicine, in particular to anesthesiology and resuscitation. The method, when the patient is in the prone position, includes installing the plane of the ultrasound sensor from the puncture side perpendicular to the long axis of the neck on the region of the sternocleidomastoid muscle. The ultrasound sensor is displaced along the sternocleidomastoid muscle to determine a safe vein puncture site. The needle is advanced in the plane of the sensor in the postero-anterior direction along the inner surface of the sternocleidomastoid muscle to the posterior wall of the vein, followed by its puncture.

EFFECT: invention allows increasing accuracy, safety and speed of catheterization of the internal jugular vein of the patient in prone position by improving the quality of visualization of the vein and puncture needle, eliminating the need for premature change in the patient's body position and additional personnel.
